WHAT IS TELEHEALTH ?
COVID 19 and Telehealth
Telehealth is an alternative way to provide you with opportunities to care for your health in more efficient ways.
The service may be delivered online via Skype, Zoom, Facetime, Messenger, or even WhatsApp or by Telephone Call. You can use your mobile phone, tablet/iPad, laptop, or home Computer. All you need is an internet connection.
Some of these alternatives are more secure than others. In today’s critical climate, it is important that you receive the right support however possible whilst maintaining your privacy.
Telehealth Psychology is not a new way to be supported with counselling, therapy, and general support in the times of need.
At NEWSTART Psychology & Counselling (Australian-based Practice) we have been offering this service for almost a decade across 4 continents – and now we continue to do so more than ever!
Around the world Governments have announced social distance measurements involving self-isolation, quarantining, and in some places lockdown. It is now that Telehealth Psychology is the best solution for you and those whom you love. You stay at home, and we help you by your chose method (video or phone call).
In Australia, the Department of Health has authorised Medicare to support your use of Telehealth Psychology.
If you have a Referral and Mental Health Care Plan from your GP, we Bulkbill your Telehealth Psychology sessions – This means that you won’t have any out of pocket expenses.

At NEWSTART Psychology & Counselling we use many ways to connect with you. We like ZOOM because it is secure, versatile, you get your own virtual room so only you and your therapist share it in private, and it can make therapy more fun.
However, we adapt to our clients needs around the world and have used Skype, FaceTime, Facebook Messenger, and even WhatsApp. We also offer Telephone Consultations (and they are also Medicare Bulkbilled for eligible patients)
How about Child Therapy and Telehealth?
What COVID19 Taught Me
I have learned a few key things, and I wanted to share them with anyone was having doubts or feeling worried about if their child could still access their therapy if it was online.
